Saalbach and Hinterglemm are small Alpine villages that together form a single ski area, which also includes Leogang. During the season, the villages are connected by a free bus service for ski pass holders.
The resort boasts 124 pistes, stretching over 200 kilometers. Of these, 90 kilometers are "blue" slopes, suitable for beginners, 95 kilometers are "red" for more experienced skiers, and another 15 kilometers are "black" tracks for extreme athletes. With 55 lifts in total, including 15 gondolas, 16 chairlifts, and 24 rope tows, you'll have easy access to the slopes.
In Hinterglemm, you'll find a snow park featuring jumps and various features like kickers and rails, as well as a half-pipe. For those new to winter sports, there are 9 ski schools with experienced instructors. Additionally, the resort offers a kindergarten where children aged three and older can be supervised by teachers.
Wondering which village to stay in? Your choice depends on your preferences. Saalbach is the hub of the resort's nightlife, hosting most of the discos and bars. The local hotels are popular with young people who don't mind a bit of round-the-clock noise outside their windows. Hinterglemm, on the other hand, is quieter and tends to be preferred by families with children.
