Guide to Benaulim

The city of Dabolim is the nearest airport to Benaulim. It is the only airport in the state of Goa. It has an international terminal and this is where tourists visiting the southern and northern resorts of the state fly in. The most frequent domestic flights to Dabolim are from Delhi or Mumbai.

From Dabolim, one can easily reach Benaulim as well as Panandji, Colva, Varca, Margao and other cities in the state. Buses that run regularly along the coast cost in the neighborhood of 0.5 USD, or about 30 INR. You can take a cab or rent a scooter, bike, car. A cab from the airport to Benaulim will cost around 20 INR per kilometer. Normally a cab ride will cost 500 INR.

The most common places to rent a car are at the airport or in Margao. Cars cost from 1000 INR per day. But driving here is not easy, so it is better to take a scooter or hire a cab. Renting bikes costs from 150 INR per day, bicycles are cheaper - from 50 INR. You can find rental places in the center of Benaulim, in hotels these services will cost twice as much.

Transportation here is represented by buses that run along the coast, allow you to get to Margao, go to Colva and to Varca. They are cheap - up to 1 USD, but are often full. It is more convenient to take a cab. There are small buses for several people, there are also rickshaws. It is worth haggling with everyone, the price can fall three or four times.

This is a safe place where it is comfortable to rest both alone and with small children. Of course, you should always be careful on the water and watch your belongings, but the resort town of Benaulim is calmer than even neighboring Colva.
