Between the lake and the sea on 14 islands lies an amazing city. The beautiful places in Stockholm look like a fairy tale — gingerbread houses, bright colors, beautiful architecture. A city that stands at the intersection of times — ancient traditions intertwine with modernity. One Stockholm, yet so many emotions. We have collected the most interesting places in Stockholm for you to see and fully appreciate this city.
Stockholm Metro
The first thing you should visit in Stockholm, one of the most beautiful and interesting places, is, oddly enough, the metro. Here it is unique and unlike any other. Some stations are literally works of art.
When they were building the metro, instead of leveling the walls and laying ordinary tiles, they decided to decorate them with rock paintings. Each station is designed in its own style, so ride as much as possible and explore the most unique metro in the world.
Metro Schedule:
- Mon-Fri: 05:00 to 01:00;
- Sat-Sun: 05:00 to 04:00.
Drottningholm Palace
Thinking about where to go in Stockholm? Drottningholm Palace, also called the Versailles of the North, deserves its reputation. "Queen's Island" was the former residence of Swedish monarchs. Inside, you'll find a rich interior, a private theater, and you can even see the tapestry woven by Gustav V. Outside, there are lakes, well-kept parks, sculptures, and fountains. Since 1991, the palace has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Stockholm Globe Arena
Visit the Stockholm Globe Arena, or "Globen" a huge spherical building where concerts and other events take place.
