1. Parliament

The most recognizable and undoubtedly the most elegant building in Budapest. A true symbol of the city, and Hungary as a whole. The Parliament is open to the public, and everyone has the opportunity to see its equally magnificent interiors. 2. Buda Castle

The historic part of the city, home to the Royal Palace, the Historical Museum, the Church of St. Matthias, and many other attractions. You can ascend to it on the historic Siklo funicular, with a one-way ticket costing 1400 forints, and a round trip costing 2000 forints (€4 and €5.5 respectively). It's worth noting that from August 30, 2021, to January 15, 2022, the funicular is undergoing reconstruction.

3. Fisherman's Bastion

One of the attractions of Buda Castle that deserves special mention. If the mention of its name conjures up images of fishing nets and rugged fishermen, you'll be pleasantly surprised. In reality, it's a beautiful white-stone fortress with seven towers, named only because fish used to be traded here. The most beautiful view of the Danube and Pest is seen from Fisherman's Bastion, so don't hesitate to climb up to it, especially since admission is free.

4. Цепной мост

Еще один символ города — подвесной мост, соединивший в конце XVIII века Буду и Пешт. Полюбоваться им можно как с берегов, так и с палубы теплохода, на котором совершаются прогулки по Дунаю в теплое время года. Цена такой прогулки стартует от 3430 форинтов (€9,3). В настоящее время (декабрь 2021) мост находится на реконструкции, которую планируют завершить к 2023 году.

6. Széchenyi Thermal Bath

The largest thermal bath complex in Europe, a real source of pride for Hungarians. It's a magical place with 11 different pools and 3 saunas. The most popular ones are, of course, the outdoor pools with thermal water (maintaining temperatures between +27°C and +38°C even in winter).

7. Gellért Baths

If Széchenyi is considered the most famous and popular bath in Budapest, then Gellért can rightfully be called the most beautiful: surrounded by colorful stained glass mosaics and marble statues, you start to feel like you're swimming in a fairy-tale palace. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, towel, and go for a swim. This bath operates from 6:00 to 20:00. The admission price starts from 5600 forints (€15.3).

8. Palatinus Baths

If the two previous baths are well-known, this one is mostly known to locals. That's why there are fewer people here, and the entrance fee is lower - 2800 forints (€7.7). Nevertheless, the open thermal pools here are just as good, and besides them, there are also water slides and a children's playground, which is great for families traveling together.

9. Margit-sziget

A large well-maintained park located on an island in the middle of the Danube is a favorite spot for locals to take walks during the summer months. Bus number 26 goes to the island. Here you can find thermal pools, a musical fountain, a summer water park, and a mini zoo, so feel free to bring children along for a walk - they definitely won't be bored here.

10. St. Stephen's Basilica

The largest church in Budapest, deserving attention for its unparalleled architecture and dome, from which opens a wonderful view of Buda. However, to climb to the observation deck, you need to make an effort - there is a steep spiral staircase leading up.

11. Shoes on the Danube Bank

A memorial on the banks of the Danube that grips the heart. 60 pairs of bronze shoes - women's, men's, and even children's - remind us of how Jewish families were shot here during World War II. One of the most symbolic and touching monuments in the world.

12. Terror Museum

Another significant and soul-stirring place in Budapest that is worth visiting. Here you can learn more about Hungary's history and the tragic period of the totalitarian regime. The exhibition leaves an indelible impression. Admission is free.

13. Palace of Arts

Opened in 2005, this palace has become a favorite leisure spot for the youth of Budapest. In the evenings, musical concerts and theatrical performances take place here, while during the day, everyone can explore the collection of works by contemporary artists. 17. Budapest Zoo

Budapest Zoo is praised by everyone - both locals and visitors. Such a collection of rare animal species and insects is hard to find elsewhere! 18. Swap meet

One of the largest flea markets in all of Europe. Here you can find excellent antiques and military relics, as well as unusual porcelain souvenirs and paintings. However, it's best to come here early in the morning on weekends.

19. Gellért Hill

For the best panoramic views of the Hungarian capital, head to Gellért Hill, named after Saint Gellért, who was killed by pagans on this hill in the 11th century. Right on it stands the Liberty Statue, erected in 1947 in honor of Hungary's liberation from fascist Germany, as well as the Citadel, built by the Habsburg dynasty in the 19th century. In the vicinity of the hill, there is a hotel of the same name and the famous Gellért Baths. The hill is also notable for its unique cave church. Entrance to it will cost you 600 forints (€1.6).
