Tenerife is an island in the Atlantic Ocean, known as a great vacation spot for the whole family—convenient and relatively budget-friendly. We’ve compiled the most interesting places to make your holiday diverse, engaging, and even adventurous!
1. Teide National Park
Mount Teide is the largest natural park in the Canary Islands, covering 18.9 hectares. It is a reserve formed around the active Teide volcano. This place is interesting because part of it features desert landscapes of volcanic rock that create the illusion of being on another planet. The other part of Teide Park boasts unique flora and fauna, with some local plants recognized as endemic, meaning they are found only here.
Teide National Park is located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, so it is usually windy and cool—be sure to bring warm clothing. The best time to visit is from mid-spring to early summer when everything starts to bloom.
You can drive to the lower station of the cable car—beyond that, you’ll need to either take the funicular or walk for free.
2. Siam Park (Playa de las Américas)
One of the largest water parks in Europe is here on the island of Tenerife—take note if you’re choosing a vacation spot and enjoy thrilling attractions.
An adrenaline rush is guaranteed—just the Tower of Power attraction alone, Siam Park's signature ride, is worth the visit. The height of the attraction is 28 meters, more than ten stories high to give you a sense of scale. Thrill-seekers are initially accelerated to 80 km/h before shooting through a glass tube that runs through a fish aquarium.
The water park is designed in a Thai style and looks impressive—its decorations mimic Thailand's landmarks, and the entire area is lush with greenery.
3. Loro Parque (Puerto de la Cruz)
"Loro" translates to "parrot" in Spanish. Originally, this place was a parrot park, and as its popularity grew, other animals were introduced and the area was landscaped with exotic plants. Today, Loro Parque is one of the most visited places on Tenerife, with the world’s largest collection of parrots, penguins, an aquarium with sharks, dolphins, and sea lions, gorillas, a zoo, and entertaining shows that will interest not only children but their parents as well.
4. Botanical Garden (Puerto de la Cruz)
A green oasis that promises welcome coolness and nicely complements a beach holiday on the hot and sun-drenched coast. It is quiet and peaceful here; among the shade of huge trees, you can find many cozy spots, and the surroundings are filled with the scents of flowers and exotic plants.
You can book a hotel with a discount of up to 65% on the website.
The first seedlings were planted in the Tenerife Botanical Garden in 1792, and now you can see a multitude of rare plants, large collections of orchids and cacti, as well as palm, tulip, and rubber trees here.
5. The Basilica of the Royal Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Candelaria
An interesting attraction that appeals to tourists both religiously and architecturally.
