People I know often ask me where to go in Prague with kids and what to see, what are the nuances that you should know about in advance. I'm sharing with you the cheat sheet I usually send them in response - I'm sure you'll hear about some of the places on the list for the first time!
For convenience, I have indicated all prices in euros, but the national currency is the Czech crown. Approximate exchange rate: €1=Kč24.9 (February 2024).
Zoo
Ranked fourth in the top five zoos in the world - in my opinion, deservedly so. The territory is divided into thematic zones (northern forest, plains, Africa, Australia, lemur island, etc.), from large animals there are elephants, hippos, giraffes, deer, lions, tigers, polar bears, seals. Only dangerous predators are behind the glass, the rest are either behind a low fence or, like lemurs and monkeys, jumping from branch to branch above the heads of visitors.
The zoo is very large - I recommend going with a child, allocate at least half a day for a visit here. In summer, come as early as possible to catch the animals awake and active. The territory has everything you need for a long stay with children: cafes, toilets, mother and child rooms with changing tables, fountains with drinking water, playgrounds.

Some tips for parents
- There are a lot of playgrounds: in newer neighborhoods they are in yards, in the center - mostly in parks. Many playgrounds are closed at night, they usually work from 9:00;
- toilets are available in subway crossings, parks, playgrounds, and large shopping centers. They are usually chargeable - €0.5 on average;
- children under 6 years old ride free on public transport and trains, from 6 to 15 years old - for half price, then at adult fare. If you have two children under the age of 6 with you, only one of them will be given a separate seat on the train, the other will ride in your arms;
And most importantly, set yourself up for a great trip! The Czechs are very loyal to children - even if your child gets separated, the probability that someone will look askew and make remarks tends to zero. Transportation is convenient for those who move around the city with a stroller (most subway stations are equipped with elevators, streetcars are mostly low-slung), people are responsive and ready to help. Baby high chairs and toys are available in many restaurants, changing tables in bar restrooms are not uncommon either. It's a very kid-friendly city!
