Rosencrantz Tower in Bergen
This Norwegian landmark was first built as a fortified governor's residence, and at that time you could see many decorated rooms here, with artillery on the top floor of the building. The magnificent wide facade with artillery loopholes overlooked Bryggen, a beautiful promenade that we have already described above.
For many years Bergen's landmark served the people faithfully and faithfully, until, like other buildings, it was damaged in the explosion of a ship with ammunition. It happened in April 1944. After 20 years, in 1966, the restoration of the tower was completed, and since then there is a museum here. Climbing up the narrow and dark staircase to the top of the structure, you can see the sea and the city full of beautiful architecture.
Fish market
Bergen's fish market has long been as much a landmark of the city as, for example, the Hanseatic Embankment. It is not a market in the traditional sense of the word, where local housewives go in the morning. It is absolutely a tourist place, like any city museum. Organized groups are taken here, and the unorganized spontaneously join for lunch or dinner.
Norway is a fish country. Therefore, we recommend not to refrain from traditional fish dishes here, such as the famous Scandinavian cream soup with salmon, mussel shells fried in the eyes and, finally, pieces of all kinds of fillets, tentacles and claws, which are fried on a grill on an open fire. This is what you can and should eat at the fish market to get close to the real Norwegian fish cuisine experience.
