What should you know about Maldives resorts?

  • Maldives is a country located in the Indian Ocean, 700 km from Sri Lanka. The Republic of Maldives has more than a thousand islands grouped into 26 atolls. All islands are up to 13 square kilometers in area. 203 islands are inhabited.
  • The average air temperature in Maldives is 28 degrees Celsius (27-29 degrees Celsius in different months), water temperature is 27-28 degrees Celsius.
  • Two seasons prevail in the Maldives: dry, from November to April, and wet from May to October. During the rainy season there is high cloudiness and humidity can reach 90%.
  • The tourist season lasts from November to April. These are dry and sunny moons.
  • Resorts for quiet vacations are more expensive. Although Maldives tourism predominantly offers a deserted island atmosphere, cheaper hotels will be filled with families with children.
  • In the Maldives, you can also stay on a private island that will have its own boat with a captain. Some of the better islands have underwater restaurants.
  • You should also follow certain rules to show respect for the local people and their customs. For example, don't walk around a populated island in shorts, swimsuits or pareos, except in hotel grounds and special bikini beaches. To the locals, it's an insult.
  • Prepare for things to be slow, don't rush and don't make the Maldivians rush.

Baa Atoll

This is exactly the Maldives everyone dreams of. It has luxury hotels for the entire archipelago and the only landscape taken under UNESCO protection.

Not so long ago Baa was just a couple of islands with hotels, but the number of hotels is gradually increasing and several islands have recently been given over to construction. Local hotels are blended into their surroundings as much as possible. They are a complex of villas or bungalows, restaurants on tiny islets nearby and wooden promenades on stilts going into the ocean.

There are deserted beaches, some of the best in the Maldives, and several diving spots where you can join in on marine life sightings.

Ari Atoll

More than 80 islands form this atoll, which is considered one of the largest in the Maldives. Among this large number of islands, only 18 are inhabited and 28 are resorts.

Geographically within the atoll, a distinction is made between the northern part with the inland Radsu Atoll and the southern part, where the capital Mahibada is located. Both parts offer vacations in upscale hotels and, in addition to service, romance and beach carefree, also extreme diving with whale sharks and hammerhead sharks.

A must-see place to visit on the atoll is called Todu Island. Here you can see the mosque of the XVII century and visit the show with national dances.

Maafushi

This small island of the Maldives is one of the most popular among tourists with a limited budget, as the prices for recreation in Maafusha are much lower than in neighboring resorts.

Here it is worth going to lovers of a quiet beach vacation without excesses. In addition, if desired, you can visit other islands and fill what is missing on Maafusha. The island is close to the capital, so its benefits will always be available to you.

The main things here are beach vacations and water activities. Man-made and natural attractions are not here, however, in the area there are locations for both the former and the latter. This island is purely resort, for the authentic Maldivian flavor it is worth going to more distant from the capital atolls.

You can book a hotel in the Maldives with a discount of up to -65% on the website.

Addu Atoll

Addu Atoll is located south of the equator in the Maldives. It is the southernmost atoll in the Maldives archipelago.

It is amazingly beautiful with lots of coconut palms and greenery, and the communities that live there take care to keep Addu Atoll clean and tidy. The houses are mostly built from coral reefs and they usually have gardens around them full of fruit trees bearing bananas and coconuts - this is one of the local attractions for travelers.

Addu Atoll is a world-famous destination offering views of shipwreck remains, large mantas, sharks, turtles and fish. A large number of reef fish can be found here throughout the year. The atoll is also known for its large, fascinating barrier reefs.

Raa Atoll

Raa is located off Baa Atoll, which we have covered before. There are only 15 inhabited islands here, and the remaining 70 are preserved almost in pristine condition. But the inhabited islands are very popular among tourists resorts in the Maldives.

People come here for silence and romance. Almost all islands of the atoll have a house reef with lots of fish, including butterfly fish, napoleon fish, parrot fish, stingrays and barracudas. Some dive spots, like Diga Tela, have underwater caves.

Hulhumale

Hulhumale is one of the largest islands in the Maldives.

The main difference of Hulhumale is its artificial origin. The island was created by moving sand from the seabed to a coral platform in order to solve the problem of overpopulation in the capital city.

Hulhumale is positioned as the first smart city in the Maldives, as its infrastructure includes ultra-modern elements, engineering and AI. Another island is called the Maldives of the future, and the surrounding azure and sprawling beaches only add to this harmonious picture.
