Despite its reputation as the world's capital of debauchery and permissiveness, Amsterdam is worth visiting for more than just legal drugs and women of easy virtue. Its main attraction is the canals, where boats filled with tourists cruise day and night. The best view of the city is from the water, but beautiful photos can also be taken from the bridges (there are 1,500 of them in the city!). Amsterdam even has a museum dedicated to its canals.
The city's museums are fascinating for their diversity—there are dozens of them, covering various themes for both adults and children. In addition to art galleries and house-museums of famous figures (such as Anne Frank or Van Gogh), you can visit museums of marijuana, prostitution, smoking pipes, diamonds, beer, bags, and wallets... the list goes on. Young tourists will definitely enjoy Madame Tussauds or the Nemo Science Museum, where not only can you touch the exhibits, but you are encouraged to do so.
If you visit Amsterdam in April, be sure to see the BLOEMENCORSO flower parade. The procession starts in the city of Noordwijk, passes through Keukenhof, and ends in Haarlem (all three towns are located near the capital).
