Laax is the most accessible resort of the Alpine Arena complex, which also includes the neighboring villages of Flims and Falera. The vast majority of tourists who come here are young people, mostly freestyle snowboarders who seek nothing but the mountains. Accommodation prices in Laax are moderate, with dozens of slopes of varying difficulty levels, but there are relatively few saunas, spas, and expensive restaurants. However, the resort boasts four snow parks and the largest halfpipe in Europe, making it the venue for the annual Burton European Open championship.
For freeriders, the ideal sector is Cassons, where there are no groomed slopes. Fans of off-piste skiing also favor the eastern and southern slopes of the 2810-meter-high Siala mountain, accessible by chairlift. You can ascend Crap Masegn (2477 meters) and descend on untouched, powdery snow under the Alp Ruschein lift. Another favorite spot for freeriders is the Vorab glacier.
In addition to winter sports, Laax offers developed paragliding opportunities. A tandem flight with an instructor from the top of Crap Sogn Gion mountain, as well as from Cassons or Naraus, costs about 165 EUR. Regardless of your starting point, you will land in Flims.
