Ravda is a relatively young Bulgarian resort in the south-east of the country. It has everything you need for a great vacation: clean, uncrowded beaches, beautiful air, mild climate, calm atmosphere. Ravda also boasts moderate prices, which are lower than the national average.
History of Ravda
The village of Ravda is located in the Burgas region, 5 km from Nessebar. There are many legends and myths about the name of this sunny region. According to the most famous of them, the word "Ravda" comes from:
the stick (ravdas), with which the local cruel farmer used to beat his subordinates;
the name of Pastor Rawadin, who visited the village in the early 18th century;
the name of the beautiful local girl Ravdalina, whose ethereal beauty Neptune himself fell in love with. The god of the seas even tried to flood the land in order to get his beloved, but she was saved by other deities.
Characteristics of the resort
Ravda, despite its modest size, is quite recognizable to seasoned travelers and Bulgarians themselves. Its characteristic features are:
a certain differentiation of local buildings. All the inns, hotels and apartment buildings are a mix of styles, heights, colors;
plenty of space. There is still plenty of undeveloped land in Ravda;
Main architectural landmarks (such as the town hall), entertainment and souvenir stores are on the main street;
little seaweed, which, however, is found along virtually the entire Bulgarian coast.
Weather and Climate in Ravda
Ravda treats tourists to an even milder climate than most Bulgarian towns. Strong gusty winds are virtually unknown here, as the village is protected by surrounding cliffs. The air temperature during the season ranges from +26 to +30°C, while the sea warms up to +26°C.
Visitors come to Ravda from May to October, with the peak season in July and August.
Resort Beaches
The resort village boasts two small, well-maintained sandy beaches with all necessary infrastructure – sunbeds, loungers, umbrellas, toilets, changing cabins, and cafés. These are the following beaches:
Akademika, marked by a small plum tree garden along the road;
Southern Beach, adjacent to a beautiful artificial park.
In addition to these, there are several wild beaches on the outskirts of Ravda for those who love pristine nature.
Entertainment in Ravda
There is no reason to fear boredom in Ravda. The village is located 5 kilometers from Nesebar and 7 kilometers from Sunny Beach. In these towns, visitors can enjoy both peaceful medieval romance and lively nightlife.
In Ravda itself, you can always spend time actively in the following ways:
try surfing, canoeing, water skiing, or sailing;
watch children's and youth competitions in windsurfing, sailing, and water skiing during the high season;
play football, volleyball, or tennis;
ride a banana boat or jet ski;
spend the day with family or friends at the local water park.
Hotels of the Bulgarian Resort
The most luxurious hotel in the village is the Emerald.
Ravda has many two-star hotels (for example, Hotel Eva, Family Hotel Asai), where a double room in the high season starts from 26 USD.
Three-star hotels (Peter Hotel, Aurelia Beach Complex) offer a similar room from 45 USD.
In four-star hotels (Marina Cape Vacation Complex), rooms start from 90 USD.
If any Bulgarian town can provide a full summer holiday, it is Ravda! It is cozy, quiet, and peaceful, while lively entertainment is within walking distance in nearby larger resorts.
