Cuban Customs

Cuban customs has some peculiarities. They are worth considering when bringing luggage across the border.

1. What you can bring into Cuba on an airplane

• Any amount of foreign currency. Amounts over 5000 USD are subject to declaration.
• Up to 200 cigarettes or 250 g of tobacco are duty-free.
• Parfumery, medicines, and household items within the limits of personal needs.
• 1 photo and video camera per person, 1 binocular, 1 portable music center, 1 portable computer (subject to compulsory removal).

2. What is prohibited to bring into Cuba

• Automobiles, motorcycles, and spare parts for them.
• Pornography.
• Narcotic substances and medicines without indication of the manufacturer's brand.
• Explosives and weapons.
• Some foodstuffs.

3. What is prohibited to take out of Cuba

• Singing and exotic birds.
• Bark and wood of valuable species.
• Skin and feathers of exotic animals and birds.
• Precious metals.
• Marine shells.
• Old antiquities and cultural treasures, as well as books and documents of historical value or the seal of libraries or other organizations.
• Durables, jewelry, or crocodile skin goods without an export license that can be obtained from the seller.

4. How much alcohol can be brought into Cuba

• No more than 3 liters of any alcohol.

• No more than 3 liters of any alcohol.
