Julläs, situated above the Arctic Circle, stands as Finland's largest ski resort, boasting several distinctions. It claims the top spot in terms of altitude difference, offering an impressive 463 meters, and the longest piste length with the three-kilometer-long Jättipitkä slope. The resort is well-equipped with 29 elevators and features a network of 63 slopes of varying difficulty, including 6 green, 27 blue, 24 red, and 6 black runs. For enthusiasts of terrain parks, Julläs offers four snow parks. YlläsPark and Mountain Dew Junior Park are located within the Sport Resort Ylläs, while Fun Park and Junior Park are situated on the opposite side of the hill. These parks cater to riders of all levels, providing a range of rails and jumps. Beyond the groomed slopes, Ylläs also offers ample opportunities for off-piste skiing. It's advisable to seek guidance from the staff at one of the ski schools, as they monitor weather forecasts to ensure safety from avalanches. For those less confident in their abilities, freeride tours led by experienced instructors are available. Additionally, the resort offers a diverse array of winter activities, including snowshoeing, snowmobile rides, dog and reindeer sledding, ice-hole swimming, and sauna experiences. Ice fishing and traditional fishing are also accessible to all, although a fishing license is required for these activities.
