Tignes and the neighboring resort of Val d'Isère form the L'Espace Killy ski area, named after Jean-Claude Killy, the Olympic champion who was born here. There are both marked pistes and virgin areas ideal for freeriding. There are a total of 300 kilometers of slopes suitable for athletes of all levels. The maximum height difference is 1906 meters. The ski complex is served by 79 elevators.
Above Tignes is the Grande Motte glacier, where the season lasts all year round. At an altitude of 2702-3456 meters above sea level is equipped with 20 kilometers of slopes, among which predominate blue. There is also a snow park with various figures for freestyle fans and a Panoramic restaurant with a terrace with a beautiful view.
There is also plenty to do off the slopes. On the frozen surface of Lake Le Lac, there is an outdoor ice rink and hockey area in winter. There are ice parties every evening. The entrance is free for holders of ski passes for 2 to 15 days, the rest will have to pay 2-3 EUR. Extreme athletes can fly a paraglider or hang glider, go ice climbing, go karting on the ice or learn to drive a dog sled.
