Excursions and warm sea - not every town has such a perfect combination. Monopoli is lucky in this respect. The ancient city is overflowing with ancient temples, chapels and museums. It is worth coming here for a couple of days just for a dense and intense tour. The medieval castle on the seashore, if history is to be believed, was built at the behest of King Charles V. And the Cathedral of Maria della Madia, considered the patron saint of the city, remains the main architectural dominant of the city. The six-story bell tower, which towers over the city, can be seen from any point of the city.
Monopoli has many cozy coffee shops where you can settle down on a hot summer evening. And under the walls of the fortress are the city's beaches. They are not so comfortable and most often crowded, so if you want privacy, you should go further, outside the city.
You can come here for all your vacation days or take a tour of the shores around Bari, which is the easiest and most convenient place to fly to. But we advise you to stay longer, because Monopoli is the place where all kinds of concerts, shows and performances take place, it is always joyful and bright, and the feeling of festivity lasts all year long.
