Guide to Sestri Levante

The town of Sestri Levante is located between two bays - the Bay of Silence and the Bay of Fairytales, on the Ligurian coast. The houses in the town stretch along a narrow strip of coastline, surrounded by the sea on three sides. In the circular bay, there is a small harbor where yachts and boats are moored. Both can be hired for a sea excursion.

The history of this ancient town dates back to the Roman Empire, but most of the architecture in Sestri Levante has survived from the Middle Ages. The picturesque colorful houses that surround the bay are part of the amazing cityscape. Sestri Levante looks especially beautiful from the sea. While exploring, you will easily find a medieval castle, an old church, and other structures from bygone eras.

The long sandy beaches of Sestri Levante are considered some of the best on the Italian coast. Here, golden sand and crystal-clear water are complemented by excellent service. The sunsets in the bays surrounding the town are breathtakingly beautiful. The town itself is immersed in gardens and parks. Every year, a festival dedicated to Andersen, who once gave the Bay of Fairytales its name, takes place here.
