Schiermonnikoog (Netherlands)

You've probably already heard of moving dunes and rocks, but a moving island is something you don't come across very often. One such unique island is Schirmonnikog, the least inhabited island near the Netherlands. Scientifically speaking, the island is not moving, just the sea eats the edge of the island on one side and slightly cuts on the other, so the shape changes and creates the effect of movement.

There is a pier for a ferry, a tent camp, a harbor for small ships, about 15 hotels and many vacation homes. And all of this, combined with the gorgeous panoramas, could well make for a great location for your next trip.

Heimaey (Iceland)

The island of Heimaey is nestled south of Iceland in the Atlantic Ocean. This amazing piece of the globe welcomes travelers with the fantastic harbor of the town of Vestmannaeyjar. Sheer cliffs rise on either side here, and a narrow corridor of cliffs leads to the harbor of the archipelago's only town, Vestmannaeyjar.

The island's attractions include an old wooden church and several ebony wooden houses, which together form an open-air museum and the Eldfedl volcano overhanging the town.

A must-see is the west coast of the island. The views of monumental cliffs and volcanic straits with turquoise water are breathtaking, and there is a recreated ancient Viking settlement to see.

Flores (Azores)

The island of Flores, one of nine in Portugal's Azores archipelago, is often described as a smaller version of Ireland or Switzerland. Flores' volcanic geography and relative isolation among the Atlantic make it a place of stark contrasts between sea and sky, which makes for a surprisingly beautiful picture.

Lush green hills, eight pristine lagoons and hundreds of clear streams cascading into lakes or flowing into the Atlantic Ocean combine to form a truly paradisiacal paradise that is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

When the hydrangeas are in bloom, the green island turns blue. You can explore the different valleys and plateaus by hiking along the coast, canoeing or mountain biking, or even try diving.

You can book your hotel with a discount of up to -65% on the website.

Tyrie (Scotland)

The most westerly island of the Inner Hebrides, Tiree in Scotland is sometimes referred to as the "Hawaii of the North" due to its mild climate, which includes some of the most sunshine recorded anywhere in the British Isles.

The island serves as a haven for fishing and boasts an abundance of beautiful beaches and fertile land. Frequent winds and ocean waves attract many wind surfers. The island also boasts flat hiking and biking trails and 46 miles of beautiful beaches.

Berlanga Archipelago (Portugal)

One of Portugal's most amazing UNESCO-listed island destinations will also surprise lovers of quiet, contemplative vacations.

Berlengas Grande has campsites open during the summer, where travelers can spend the night and feel alone under the Milky Way in the embrace of the surrounding nature.

Alicudi (Italy)

A sea rich in flora and fauna is the main attraction of the island of Alicudi, which owes its name to the typical vegetation of the area, the fern.

The marvelous rocks and grottoes with which the island is studded, attract here connoisseurs of underwater exploration from different corners.

On the western slope of the island you can find the best diving sites, along with magnificent sea grottoes such as Bue Marino, and snorkelers must see the reefs of Galera.

Skiros (Greece)

Despite the fact that the island even has an airport, not to mention the natural beauty, Skiros remains off the paths trodden by Aegean tourism. The amazing highlight of the area is that the island is clearly divided into two parts, very different from each other. The landscape of the north is green, soft and remote from large villages, with many ancient coniferous forests preserved here, while the almost deserted south is covered with mountains and rocks.

The island is also famous for its traditional painted pottery and decorative wood carvings. Here you can go hiking, view the island's scenery from a small shuttle boat or try the local lobster.

Rathlin (Northern Ireland)

Located off the northeast coast of Northern Ireland in County Antrim, Rathlin Island was one of the first inhabited islands in the region. Today, its population is less than 150 people.

Travelers who include this corner to their itinerary can learn about the island's interesting history at the Boathouse Visitor Center and view artifacts from shipwrecks that have occurred off its coast.

Other must-see tips include a walk around the working lighthouse, a tour of the Iron Age fort and Robert the Bruce Castle.

Åland (Finland)

The Åland archipelago has about 6,500 islands, but people live on only 60 of them. For lovers of peace and quiet, a trip around these islands or a vacation in magical Mariehamn, the world's tiniest capital, is a good idea.

The Aland Islands are supposedly specially designed for cycling: the roads are flat, ferries and bridges create bicycle-friendly connections between the many islands. However, bicycling is not the only way to explore Åland - you can spend an entire day traveling between islets on the water without seeing a soul - except for rare seals and (if you're very lucky) a white-tailed eagle.

Naustholmen (Norway)

Another representative of lush Scandinavian nature cuts through the water column off the coast of Norway. Here you can spend your vacation kayaking to white sandy beaches lapped by dark blue waters, or hike to the nearby peaks to see the Lofoten Islands to the north.
