National Museum of Natural History
The museums in the capital of the United States are no less impressive. If you want to learn more about the history of our planet and humanity, head to the National Museum of Natural History.
It is located on the National Mall and is operated by the Smithsonian Institution. The museum was founded over 100 years ago, in 1910. Currently, its collection includes over 145 million artifacts, including specimens of animals, plants, minerals, and fossils that tell the story of the different stages of Earth's development.
A nice bonus is that admission to the museum is free for both children and adults.
National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery of Art, which opened to the public in 1941, now has a truly outstanding collection of masterpieces by the most famous European and American artists. Its collection was formed thanks to generous donations and the artistic preferences of numerous patrons.
For example, the collection of Italian Renaissance paintings, considered the best and most extensive on the American continent, is located next to the modern and contemporary art sections, which feature works by American artists. We recommend visiting this iconic place to everyone, even if you don't consider yourself a true art lover.
