Through Hungary
First you need to get to Mukachevo to change trains to Budapest:
- from Kyiv - train #81 (Kyiv 18:29, Mukachevo 09:15);
- from Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro - train #4 (Zaporizhzhia 16:48, Dnipro 19:10, Mukachevo 14:15);
- from Odesa - train #38 (Odesa 14:58, Mukachevo 08:01);
- from Kharkiv - train #17 (Kharkiv 14:07, Mukachevo 09:34) or train #45 (Kharkiv 13:43, Mukachevo 13:23).
The cost of the ticket is from 800 to 1400 UAH, you can buy tickets in the app "Ukrzaliznytsia" or at the station ticket office.
Two direct trains depart daily from Mukachevo to Budapest:
- #33 "Latorica" Mukachevo - Budapest.
- Departure from Mukachevo at 12:30, arrival at Budapest-Nyugati station at 18:37;
- #31 "Latorica" Mukachevo - Budapest.
- Departure from Mukachevo at 16:30, Budapest-Nyugati at 22:37.
The cost of the ticket is about 800 hryvnia, you can buy a ticket only on the spot at the ticket office at the station. The train "Latorica" leaves from the station "Zapadnaya", which is located 500m from the station Mukachevo - keep this in mind to not miss the train.
Since the train arrives in the evening and there are no evening flights to Spain, you will have to spend the night in Budapest - wait a few hours for the plane at the airport, most flights to Spain are in the early morning.
You can get to the airport by bus. From the city center (from the stop "Deak Ferenc ter M") every 20 minutes around the clock to the airport runs bus number 100 - the fare is 1580 forints (about 3.5 euros).
What are the flights from Budapest?
The cheapest flight is to Barcelona from €29 one way, slightly more expensive to Costa del Asaar, Valencia, Alicante and Palma de Mallorca from €44, even more expensive to Malaga, Madrid and Tenerife from €70 one way. Of course, if you buy tickets in advance.
In Spain it is possible to get to the required city by train for free if you have come to seek asylum and you need to get to your place of residence. To do this, you need to fill in an application form at the train station, show the tickets you have just arrived and ask for free tickets at the ticket office.
Travel time such a route will take from 38 hours and will cost from 3500 UAH, depending on the city of the beginning of the trip and the final stop.
Through Poland
The most popular route through Poland is to take a train or bus to Warsaw, but it is not the cheapest option. It is faster and more profitable to get there through Krakow.
First you need to get to Peremyshl to make a change to the train to Krakow. Ukrzaliznytsia operates several trains in this direction:
- train Kyiv - Peremyshl goes three times a day: train #705 (departure at 20:10, arrival 04:57), #89 (Kyiv 23:00, Peremyshl 11:17), #53 (Kyiv 19:45, Peremyshl 06:23), #715 (Kyiv 11:01, Peremyshl 20:23);
- from Odesa - by train No. 36 (Odesa 14:59, Peremyshl 06:23);
- from Zaporizhzhya and Dnipro - train No. 32 (Zaporizhzhya 20:49, Dnipro 22:26, Peremyshl 15:21);
- from Kharkiv - by train #73 (Kharkiv 13:36, Peremyshl 11:17).
The cost of the ticket is from 800 to 1800 hryvnias, you can buy tickets at the station ticket office.
Every day from Peremyshl to Krakow there are suburban trains: the first one at 4:25, the last one at 18:54. Travel time is about 3 hours. The ticket costs from 50 to 80 zlotys (about 500-700 hryvnia).
You can get to the airport by bus. The bus station is located at 18 Bosacka Street, which is a 10-minute walk from the station; tickets must be bought no later than 15 minutes before the bus departure at the ticket offices, operating from 06:00 to 21:00. It takes half an hour to get to the airport.
