Berlin, it turns out, is a very comfortable city when it comes to budget travel. Here, you can not only grab a free bite to eat or find a place to stay overnight but also have a good time. So, what can a “budget traveler” do in the capital of Germany?
Attend a concert
The Berlin Philharmonic offers free concerts for all music lovers every Tuesday. Both young and renowned musicians perform. The concerts start at 13:00, but it’s better to arrive early—30-40 minutes before the start—otherwise, all the seats may be taken.
Address: Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, Berlin-Tiergarten
Get a bird’s eye view of the city
We’re talking about Berlin’s observation decks: Panoramapunkt, located at the very top of the Kollhoff Tower at Potsdamer Platz, and the monument on the hilltop of Kreuzberg in Viktoriapark. The first offers excellent views of both the old and new city, and there’s also a café and various exhibitions on the deck. The second offers beautiful views, especially at sunset.
Addresses: Panoramapunkt, Potsdamer Platz 1, Berlin-Mitte (daily 10:00 – 20:00).
