Autumn in Cyprus: 7 reasons to vacation here

Many travelers still believe that the best vacation is traditionally a summer vacation. In fact, there are many places where you can relax in the fall months as well (or even better!). One of them is the island of Cyprus. Today we will tell you why you should visit it in the fall.

1. Favorable prices and convenient flight

Cyprus is an ideal option for those who decided to vacation in the fall. Firstly, because of the distance (the island is relatively close to many European countries and the flight takes a couple of hours), and secondly, in the fall the prices on the island are much lower than in the high season in summer.

Tickets for a direct Wizz Air flight from Poland (e.g. Warsaw) to Larnaca in the fall period can be bought for the price from 80 euros round trip.

2. Beautiful climate

The main reason to go to Cyprus in the fall is the climate. In contrast to the hot and rather dry summer, autumn on the island is marked by a beautiful +25-28 degrees (October), and the evenings will please with a pleasant coolness and freshness. Those who like "hotter", can safely go to the southern part of the island (Limassol area) — there in early fall, the temperature easily reaches the mark of 30-32 degrees and above.

The same goes for precipitation: there is almost no rain in Cyprus in October, and if it does happen, it is rare and short-lived. Avid bathers will rejoice, because the water in the coastal zone remains warm (average +25 degrees Celsius) until mid-November, and the sea is clean and calm!

In November, the daytime temperature usually drops by a few degrees and the weather is more like autumn: there is rain, the average temperature is +21 +23, and the water is cooler (+20 +22 degrees). Evenings are also quite cool (+10 +12), so you should bring warm clothes. The coldest time is in the mountains, where the air does not get warmer than +13, so you should keep this in mind if you plan to "conquer the peaks".

3. Best time to go sightseeing

Autumn is the best time to explore Cyprus up and down. The concentration of tourists per square meter drops significantly, the weather is pleasant with moderate temperatures, and the service sector — adequate prices. Ideal conditions for quietly getting to know the island, for example, by organizing a tour of the main cultural attractions. You can visit the ancient Odeon Theater, the Royal Tombs and marvel at the beautiful frescoes of the monastery of Ayios Neophytos (Paphos), or touch antiquity in the settlements of Kition, Kourion and Amathus.

We also recommend a trip to the rock tombs of Makronisos near Ayia Napa and a look at the castles of Kyrenia (Buffavento, St. Hilarion Castle, Kyrenia Castle).

4. Excellent conditions for active vacations

Cyprus is a great place for lovers of outdoor activities and natural beauty. You can, say, get to Cape Greco to see the stunning views of the amazingly azure Mediterranean Sea, or hike in the Troodos mountain range — the views there are simply marvelous!

Or you can go to the Rock of Aphrodite, where, according to legend, the goddess of love was born from the foam of the sea, or see the island's largest waterfall Millomeris (15 meters) near the village of Pano Platres.

5. Everything for extreme lovers

Don't like to sit still for long? No problem! There is something for everyone in Cyprus. Windsurfing, kiting and other pleasures for extreme sports enthusiasts are available in many places (Limassol, Mazotos, Avdimou, Protaras, etc.), and in the clubs of large resort towns (Ayia Napa, Limassol) you can party until the morning.

6. Autumn Festivals

Autumn Cyprus is also good because at this time the island often organizes festivals and other interesting events.

For example, on October 28, the islanders celebrate Ohi Day, a national holiday not only in Cyprus, but also in Greece. It is celebrated in honor of the Greek government's refusal to help Fascist Italy in 1940. Celebrations include parades, concerts, festivities and street performances, so there's plenty to see.

Apart from these official, "serious" celebrations, Cyprus is famous for its festivals and folk celebrations. For example, from August to the end of October there is a harvest festival all over the island. It is celebrated, as a rule, in small villages and hamlets (in a word, in the provinces), where something is grown or produced for sale. If you are lucky enough to attend one, you will have an unforgettable time! Fairs, tastings of national cuisine performed by local cooks, concerts, dances — where without them?

Be sure to visit the village of Agros, famous for its roses. At the harvest festival, in addition to flowers, you can buy brandy, liqueurs and rose infusions, as well as perfumes, oils, rose water and scented candles — perfect souvenirs for friends and relatives.

Have a great trip!
