We often travel thousands of kilometers in search of new sensations, fly to other continents in the hope of seeing unusual monuments and natural wonders, but we often forget that everything amazing is close by. This is how we can characterize our neighboring country - Poland. Just a few hours by bus or 1-2 hours by airplane and you will be in a medieval fairy tale that will meet your expectations 100%.

For the first acquaintance with Poland or just for traveling along a non-tiring route it is worth visiting the following cities:Krakow-Wroclaw-Lodz-Warsaw-Lublin.

This route is very convenient, because the cities are located between each other at a distance of 200-250 km, so you will not be tired, you can fully enjoy the Polish beauty, delicious local cuisine, make several hundred pictures against the background of countless Catholic churches and castles.

The bus network of the carrier Polski Bus is well developed in Poland, which can be used to reach every point on our itinerary. And importantly for your budget, the cost of the trip will not exceed €5-6, and if you plan ahead, there are almost always tickets available for €1.

Accommodation prices in all cities on the itinerary are about the same:

  • a bed in a hostel - from €5
  • a room in a 3* hotel - from €20 for two people
  • a room in a 5* hotel - from €70 for two people.

The easiest way to get to Poland from Ukraine is by plane. Wizz Air has cheap ones to different Polish cities, including Katowice - a city that is not far from Krakow and from where it is convenient to start our route.

There are also direct bus flights and trains from Kyiv and Lviv, or you can do the most budget route with a few connections and crossing the border on foot.

Krakow

Just a few hours and you will find yourself in medieval Krakow, the cultural capital of Poland. Its heart is the Old Town (a UNESCO heritage site) with its spacious Market Square, St. Mary's Church and Wawel Castle. For a long time Krakow was the place of coronation of Polish monarchs, although the capital of the country was in Warsaw - you can learn more about it on the tour "Secrets and Greatness of Royal Dynasties".

You can book a hotel in Krakow with a discount of up to -65% on the website.

Indeed, the number of attractions in Krakow is huge, but what makes this location truly unique are two places close to the city. The first is the Wieliczka salt mines with several trails (tourist and mining), a salt cooling tower, a church and other interesting additions; the second is the world-famous Auschwitz concentration camp.

Wrocław

The next stop on the itinerary will be the city of Wroclaw. This is another "classic" Polish city with the old quarter and the Market Square in the center. You can learn about all the peculiarities and historical adventures on the excursion "In the footsteps of secrets and legends of Wroclaw". Wrocław also traditionally has its own royal palace and historical museum.

The most famous landmark of the city is the Centennial Hall, built in honor of the victory over Napoleon at Leipzig. This architectural marvel resembles a wedding cake, the Capitol, a UFO, and the old Baku airport building all at the same time! The building hosts fairs, architectural exhibitions, opera performances, basketball competitions.

The center of water knowledge - Hydropolis - will become the city's calling card. It is designed for guests of any age category, who will be able to enjoy 64 installations in 8 thematic zones. Here you can even take a look inside the bathyscaphe Trieste, which dived into the deepest place on Earth in 1960.

If you are staying overnight in Wrocław, we recommend taking theMystical Wrocław tour.

Lodz

A very interesting city, with a rich history and sights. Surprisingly, in the post-war period, when Warsaw was destroyed, Lodz actually served as the capital of Poland from 1948-1949.

Lodz is an industrial city, which only adds to its special charm and uniqueness. Here factories have become museums, and former factories are shopping centers and restaurants. For example, it is worth visiting the Museum of Textile Industry or the Museum of Wooden Architecture. Lodz is also the "cinematographic" factory of Poland. There is a film and television school, a museum of cinematography and its own Alley of Stars.

Lodz has the longest pedestrian street in Poland, on which dozens of cafes, restaurants, pubs and stores are cozily located. The main feature of the city is a shopping and entertainment complex - Manufaktura, located on the site of a former textile factory. In the stores of the complex there are stores, cinemas, restaurants, art installations.

Warsaw

In Warsaw you can immediately feel that you are in the capital: wide avenues, long streets, tall glass buildings. The Old Town is traditionally in the center. However, it is only 60 years old! Warsaw will not surprise you with as many sights as Krakow or Wroclaw, but there is a lot to see here. The city is very dynamic, technological and cosmopolitan.

It is highly recommended to visit the most unusual park in Warsaw, which is located on the roof of the Warsaw University Library!

The life and work of the great composer Chopin is inextricably linked with Warsaw. There are 15 "singing" benches around the city, where you can listen to the melodies written by the composer.

You will be even more impressed by the Copernicus Science Center - it is not just a museum of Nicolaus Copernicus' heritage, here you can become a scientist yourself and test the effect of all physical laws. The highest building, the Palace of Culture and Science, offers the best view of the city.

Since Warsaw is not a small city, we recommend taking a bicycle tour or a walking tour.

Lublin

Lublin is closest to the Ukrainian border and can easily be a weekend destination without visiting other Polish cities (especially if you're afraid of flying). Lublin has an unofficial nickname - "little Krakow", as there are also many attractions, but the city is located away from the big tourist flows.

This is reflected in the pricing policy, so, for example, eating in Lublin can be 10-20% cheaper than in other cities on the route. Also this city will be a good place for shopping on the way home. The main local attraction is the Lublin Castle, which offers a great view of the city (from a height it looks something like Vilnius or Bratislava).
