The city of Fethiye is located on the west coast of Turkey, between the sea and the Lycian Mountains. Cedars and pine trees descend from the slopes of the mountains, and the air, saturated with resin and sea salt, one could rightly say healing. This is why Fethiye is often chosen for families with children, although there are no special attractions for younger travelers.
Fethiye is divided into two parts. Closer to the mountains are the most expensive hotels of the resort, offering guests an all-inclusive service. And the second part of the city is adjacent to the bay Oludeniz. Few hotels are surrounded by greenery, and the beaches are mostly represented by small secluded bays. The beaches, lying near the main part of the city, are wide, sandy and fairly clean. The beach of Cleopatra deserves special attention, as it has a spit of sand going into the sea.
The history of Fethiye begins in V-IV century BC, when the city was a major port of the then state. In 1857 an earthquake nearly destroyed the settlement. The modern name of the resort was given only in 1934 in honor of the famous Turkish pilot Fethiye Bey.
