Sunny Beach beaches

Let's tell you about the best beaches of Sunny Beach for both youth and family vacation.

Sunny Beach is one of the few resorts whose beaches face east. Here, the day begins the moment the sun rises above the horizon. It is among the most popular and upscale resorts in Bulgaria, and during the high season it can feel almost impossible to find a free spot. Travelers come here for its pristine beaches, proudly bearing the Blue Flag award, and for the warm, inviting sea.

Features of Sunny Beach Beaches

Sunny Beach boasts the longest stretch of beach in Bulgaria. The coastline extends for about 9 kilometers, with a width of around 60 meters.

The fine golden sand, clean and calm sea, and gentle slope into the water create ideal conditions for family holidays with children.

Visitors have plenty of options when choosing where to relax. It is worth noting that the beaches in Sunny Beach are public, while services such as sunbeds and umbrellas are managed by local businesses. This means you can always rent the equipment you need for a comfortable day at the seaside.

The best beaches of Sunny Beach are found along the first line of hotels. These are the most well-developed areas, offering a high standard of amenities and services. Further along the bay, the beaches are less crowded, yet equally beautiful and well-kept.

Across the resort, the quality of the sand and the maintenance of the beaches remain excellent, which has repeatedly earned them the prestigious EU Blue Flag award.

The advantages of vacationing on the beach areas of the resort

The undoubted pluses of Sunny Beach beaches include:

  • Cleanliness. You don't eat seeds or watermelons here. It's not customary and, from a resort resident's point of view, strange.

  • Comfortable entrance to the sea. Relatively clean sea, as for such busy beaches. There is almost no algae, and those that are thrown ashore are cleaned up immediately.

  • Entertainment. If you're not a fan of sea water or want a new experience, head to one of the several aquaparks located in Sunny Beach.

  • The absence of commerce. You won't hear shouting corn and baklava vendors — it just isn't there on Sunny Beach beaches.

Disadvantages of Sunny Beach beaches

The resort's beach vacation also has its disadvantages, among them:

  • Lack of seating. During the season, there is nowhere for an apple to fall on the beaches. There are practically no seats.

  • The water in the sea is not very clean due to the large number of people.

  • Prices are exorbitant. Costs on the beaches are unbelievably high. Anywhere and everything in the resort is two to three times more expensive than in smaller towns. The beaches are divided into two areas: paid and free.

    • - You can rent an umbrella or a sunbed for 10-14 BGN.

    • - Oddly enough, you'll also have to pay 0.5 to 1 BGN to use the restrooms.

  • There are no empty beaches here. If you're hoping to find an empty beach at the resort - we'll disappoint you, there aren't any. If you want to rest in silence without people and swim in the purest sea water — you should go to Nessebar or Pomorie. You can get there on foot or by bus. Cabs are very expensive.

Prices of services at the resort

Food

Prices at the resort are expectedly very high. Do not be surprised if you are offered to buy a kilogram of cherries or grapes for 27 BGN. Of course, the price for the same berries in a smaller resort will be much lower.

  • In supermarkets prices are 20% higher than in neighboring resorts.

  • Fast food isn't cheap either — corn will cost you 4 BGN and a slice of pizza 5 BGN.

  • In restaurants it's the same story — delicious, but incredibly expensive.

Transportation

.

Taxis are overpriced several times over. During the day you will be taken for 5.5 BGN, at night — for 7 BGN. Public transportation in Sunny Beach is much more affordable. The cost of a bus to Bourgas reaches 8 BGN, and to Varna — 14 BGN.

Excursions

Excursion programs are the same as everywhere else, but more expensive by 15-20%. Be sure to visit Nessebar — a very beautiful town with a rich history. Walk around it in the evening. It is very easy to get to Nessebar on foot in 15-20 minutes.

Accommodation

Budget hotel options will be hard to find. Sunny Beach is famous for fashionable and very expensive establishments. Some of them cost up to 5-10 thousand USD per week.

Entertainment

Entertainment in Sunny Beach is a lot and for every taste: discos, different shows, theme parties.

Sea activities are also plentiful, from banana boating to diving and parachuting.

Tips for travelers in Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is a popular resort where you will find good infrastructure on the beaches, you can choose the best hotel, dine in a fancy restaurant. But there is a chance that you, as a tourist, will want to be scammed to make some money in the process.

  • Services. In Sunny Beach, traders don't mind cheating a gullible tourist by inflating the price of a service or product several times over. If the cost seems excessively high to you, don't shop on the street or haggle.

  • Taxis. The resort's cab drivers almost always drive without a meter, charging exorbitant prices. To drive a few kilometers towards Nessebar, you may be charged 52 BGN. Don't agree and haggle — then you can get a ride for 7 BGN.

  • Currency Exchange. It's best to go to a bank, or at the very least to your hotel to exchange money. Do not use the services of street exchangers. Yes, the rate in the bank there is not as favorable as on the street, but at least you will not be cheated. In exchangers in the city may slip out-of-date money, take a huge commission or make a calculation that does not coincide with the one on the sign.

The vacation in Sunny Beach promises to be rich and interesting. Here you will get a lot of fun and relaxation.
