Hurghada International Airport is a key air transportation hub in Egypt. It ranks second in the country in terms of passenger traffic. The air harbor serves about 7.5 million people annually. It is located within the city limits of Hurghada, 5 km southwest of its center.
The airport is equipped with one asphalt runway capable of handling aircraft of all makes and models. It serves more than 45 airlines operating domestic and international flights.
There are two passenger terminals at the air station:
- Terminal 1. A new three-level building with an area of 92,000 m², opened in 2014. The terminal is focused on servicing scheduled and charter flights. It provides 72 check-in counters and 30 boarding gates.
- Terminal 2. Has been in operation since 1977. Currently it receives mainly charter flights from European countries.
The terminals are located about 1 km from each other, but there is no direct road between them. You can take a bus or cab to get from one to the other.
