Keflavík Airport was built by American troops during World War II and was originally used as a stopping point between Europe and the United States. With the development of tourism in Iceland, the airport was converted into a passenger airport and now receives flights from 27 international airlines and welcomes up to 10 million tourists annually.

Reykjavík-Keflavík Airport is operated by the state-owned company Isavia and is the hub for Icelandair. Since 1987 there has been 1 Terminal operating here, a diagram of which can be found at the link.
