Samarkand International Airport is the third largest among all airports in Uzbekistan. After Tashkent, it is the second in terms of passenger density, serving more than 800,000 passengers annually. The airport is currently capable of handling up to 800 people per hour and 120 flights per week. Located 8 kilometers from the city center, this airport is the only one in Samarkand.
A characteristic element of its architecture is the airport terminal building made in the shape of an open book. On the roof of the building are highlighted luminous constellations, they can be observed during the takeoff and landing of the airplane as a bonus for arriving and departing passengers. And the building itself is built in modern trends - light colors, a lot of space and glass.
