Puerto del Carmen is one of the three largest resorts on the fiery island of Lanzarote. The Spanish call Lanzarote the island of lava, craters and volcanoes, and tourists are intrigued by the uniquely beautiful "Martian" landscape. By decision of UNESCO Lanzarote is recognized as a biosphere reserve, on the territory of which it is forbidden to build high-rise buildings.
