Water temperature in Biarritz
As we said, the Atlantic waters in Biarritz are the warmest on the whole of the Silver Coast. The maximum water temperature in the Atlantic Ocean is in August (+22-24°C). In September you can still see crowds of bathers on the beaches. And even in October, when the Atlantic Ocean temperature drops to +19°C, the most desperate continue to swim.
In winter, the ocean cools to +11-13°C. The real warming is only in early May, when the water warms up to +15.5°C. The full bathing season usually opens only in late June or early July.
The waves of the Atlantic Ocean in Biarritz can be very high. To be more precise, the ocean is almost never calm. This is due to the special surface and shape of the bottom of the Bay of Biscay, which contributes to the continuous formation of waves.
