Amman's public transportation system may not be the most tourist-friendly. While the city does have buses, including large, medium, and minivan options, deciphering their schedules can be challenging for unseasoned travelers, as the information at stops is primarily in Arabic. Don't hesitate to seek assistance from locals, as many of them speak some English.

Transportation within Amman is significantly more affordable compared to other tourist cities. A single ride typically costs between 0.25-0.5 JOD, with payments made by depositing money into a box near the driver. If you don't have the exact change, you can wait for your change. Keep in mind that public transportation fares are double in the evening.
Tips for Tourists in Amman
For your initial journeys, opt for medium-sized buses or minivans that stop upon request. Other buses have designated stops only. Alternatively, consider taking a taxi (ensure the meter is running). The average fare for a taxi trip is around 3 JOD. Taxis are convenient because you won't need to navigate busy highways and frequent overpasses every 500 meters.
