Jordan offers two fantastic options for seaside vacations. There's some confusion surrounding the famous salt lake known as the Dead Sea.
Jordan Beach Vacation at the Dead Sea
This lake with its unique but somewhat ominous name is located just 50 kilometers from the international airport in Amman. Thanks to its high air temperature and unique location, this body of water boasts an exceptionally high concentration of salts and minerals, including therapeutic salts, chlorine, magnesia, sodium, potassium, calcium, and bromine.
On the seashore, you won't find large cities and settlements, but there are several hotels catering to tourists with varying budgets. You'll discover relatively affordable campsites and ultra-modern hotel complexes with medical facilities. In the eastern part of the Dead Sea, you can even encounter waves, at times quite substantial, as this is where the Jordan River flows into the sea.
Red Sea Vacations in Jordan
Nevertheless, when most people think of a sea vacation in Jordan, they envision a trip to the resort town of Aqaba, situated on the northern coast of the Gulf of Aqaba along the Red Sea. Aqaba offers tourists impeccable service, modern and comfortable hotels, as well as well-maintained beaches. A vacation in Aqaba is possible year-round, but it's considered a relatively expensive resort. Standard tours typically span 7-8 days, which may not be enough time to fully enjoy both beach activities (such as diving, windsurfing, yachting, and fishing) and excursions. Traveling with children is also possible, but it's more advisable during the milder spring and fall seasons when the desert heat is less intense.
The village of Tala Bay is not far from Aqaba and is quiet and peaceful. So if you're looking for a quieter vacation, this is the place to go.
