Lake Bled

One of the main tourist attractions of the country. It is the location of one of the best resorts in Austria-Hungary and then an important state residence in Yugoslavia. The nature of Bled isunique: the lake is surrounded by century-old trees and is located in a national reserve at the foot of the Alps.

Church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary

Dragon Bridge in Ljubljana

St. Nicholas Cathedral in Ljubljana

The amazing St. Nicholas Cathedral is located in the heart of the city of Ljubljana and is a very popular monument in Slovenia. The building of the cathedral, which can be seen today, was built in the 18th century. The interior of the cathedral is particularly notable for the frescoes painted on the walls and vaults by Giulio Quaglio and Matevž Langus in different periods of time.

The medieval city of Piran

Socha River

The waters of this river are a fabulous emerald color, no wonder that episodes for the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia. Prince Caspian. In addition to luxurious views, the Sochi Valley has a lot to offer - rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hang gliding, biking and hiking trails.

Predjam Castle

Near the town of Postojna there is another interesting attraction - it is a fortress with a rich history, built on a rushing cliff 123 meters high at the end of XVI. From such a height it is convenient to keep an eye on the nearby forest roads. The most interesting things here are the living quarters, the chapel and the prison, among the utensils are some weapons, oil paintings and a sculpture of the grieving mother of Jesus Christ holding her dead son in her arms, dated 1420.

Postojnska Jama

Not far from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, only 55 kilometers away, is the town of Postojna. Near this town is a huge karst cave known as Postojnska or Postojnska Jama. The word "pit" in this name should not be confusing, as it means "cave" in Slovenian.

The length of all the studied passages of this cave is 25 kilometers. Over the millennia, a grandiose stone labyrinth with a rich filling was formed: grottoes and tunnels, passages and descents, ascents and chasms, cavities, halls and galleries, stalactites and lakes, rivers going underground.

Bohinj Lake

Lake Bohinj is the largest lake in Slovenia, many travelers call this place cozy calm. Not all tourists reach here, limiting themselves to visiting the most popular place - Lake Bled. However, Bohinj is worth overcoming 26 km and find yourself at the largest lake in Slovenia on the territory of Triglav Park.

Mount Triglav

Maribor Castle

The castle in Maribor looks more like a mansion in the Old Town and was built in 1483. Currently, the castle houses the Historical Museum of the city. And the whole old town center with narrow streets, as if it has emerged from the Middle Ages, is worth a visit.

You should pay attention to the Franciscan Church, because it is considered one of the main architectural sights not only of the city, but also of the whole country. It was built relatively recently, at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries.

Tivoli Park in Ljubljana

Capuchin Bridge in Škofia Loka

This ancient bridge is one of the oldest bridges in Europe, exquisite and picturesque. And the ancient town itself will not leave indifferent anyone who loves small picturesque towns. In the XVI-XVIII centuries a large number of stone buildings were built here, most of which have been preserved to this day, which brought the old town of Škofja Loka the glory of the best preserved medieval town in Slovenia.

Škofja Caves

In total, small Slovenia counts more than 700 caves on its territory. One of the most popular among them are the Škocjan caves. According to historians, they were formed many millions of years ago. The caves occupy an area of about 413 hectares, of which 43 hectares are located in the city park. The total length of the caves with passages and tunnels is 6200 meters. Such large caves are very versatile and contain 26 waterfalls, 10 lakes and much more.

Inside the caves are very beautiful - decorated with numerous stalactites and stalagmites, which were created over many centuries.

City of Kranj

Logar Valley

The protected natural area surrounded by mountain peaks stretches for 7 km in the northern direction of Slovenia. The Logar Plain is home to the Rinka, Sučica and Palenk waterfalls. There are many sporting activities for tourists to choose from. In the reserve you can go kayaking, skydiving or rock climbing. In the southeast of the valley you can visit the Klemench Cave.

Lipica Horse Farm

The famous Lipica horses come from an estate an hour's drive from Ljubljana. The Lipica stud farm was established in the 16th century and continues to supply a unique breed of horses. At birth, the foal has a dark coloring, which lightens with time to white. In addition to the local pets, the estate has a collection of different carriages and carts, carefully collected by the local reproducer.

Metelkova Town

And rounding off our selection is a town quite different from the usual Slovenian towns, with a melancholy and peaceful vibe and a medieval spirit.

The town of Metelkova is built on the territory of former barracks. There is, firstly, a museum complex including, among others, ethnographic and contemporary art museums, and secondly, an "alternative cultural space" that has been in existence since 1993.

Numerous bars in a variety of styles, endless graffiti and the deliberate abandonment of many houses make the blocks along the street a kind of mini Bronx, but without the sense of danger. On the site of the former military plaza in Tabora, a weekend bargain fair rages and local artists' wares are available for purchase.
