Old Castle
One of the main visiting cards of Stuttgart is the Old Castle. This residence of the representatives of the House of Württemberg is one of the oldest buildings in Stuttgart and has great historical and cultural value.
In the 10th century, a rampart was erected at the behest of Duke Luidolf to protect his "Horse Garden". At the end of the 11th century, construction of the stone castle began. The tournament hall, built in 1325, has survived to this day.
Inside the castle there is now a museum complex, which boasts the jewels of the royal family, unique clocks, ancient musical instruments and paintings from the medieval era. The southern part of the building is dedicated to the 16th century church, which houses the tombs of kings and famous citizens of Stuttgart.
