Hersonissos has excellent beaches (the best of which are Drepanos and Star Beach) and two water parks. If you decide to learn more about the glorious history of the city, go on a walk, which should include the ruins of ancient theaters and the basilica. Excursions to other parts of Crete are also in demand, such as the ancient town of Gortina with its Minoan caves or the island of Spinalonga, where the ruins of Venetian fortresses have been preserved.
How to get there. Nikos Kazandzakis International Airport is six kilometers from Heraklion. You can go to Hersonissos by cab (about €75) or come to the capital's train station, where buses to the resort run (you will spend about 45 minutes on the way, the ticket costs about €10).
8. Mykonos, Greece
The Greek island of Mykonos never goes to sleep. Experts call it a worthy alternative to Ibiza, and many international stars such as Madonna, Nicolas Cage, Russell Crowe and Michael Jordan agree with them. There are plenty of entertainment venues here, but the best are Cavo Paradiso on Paradis Beach (one of the top 10 best discos in the world), Remezzo and Space Mykonos Xperience. They host famous DJs and the loudest parties, where you can meet actors, musicians, athletes and other "people from the cover".
Mykonos is also rich in interesting sights. Even if you, like most tourists, did not come here for excursions, we recommend visiting the fortress of Kastro, near which there is a national monument of Paraportiani (a group of ancient churches), to see the "doors of Mykonos" - two towers of impressive size, and admire the lighthouse, built in 1891. Don't miss the famous windmills, a trademark of the island (only 7 out of 28 have survived).
Looking for a refreshing tan? Mykonos beaches are waiting for you, with Paradise and Paraga nudist beaches, and Psarou and Platis Gialos diving beaches topping the rankings.
How to get there. By ferry from one of the Athens ports or by plane from Athens, Crete, Santorini and Rhodes.
9. Saint-Tropez, France
One of the most fashionable resorts on the Côte d'Azur of France, where you can relax in style and do whatever your heart desires. If, of course, you have enough money, because the beautiful life is not cheap.
The most prestigious club in France, Les Caves du Roy, is located in the Byblos Hotel. Be prepared to pay from €50 for a cocktail and about €500 for a bottle of not the best champagne. What can you do, you have to pay for the right to touch the world of the rich and famous.
Another legendary club is the VIP Room, which Karl Lagerfeld once called the best in the world. During the day it is a Mediterranean restaurant, but at night it transforms into a huge dance floor. Rounding off the top three is the Papagayo club, with Antonio Banderas among its regulars.
The second most popular leisure option in Saint-Tropez is shopping. There are boutiques of all the world's leading designers, where you can easily leave a fortune - don't lose your head!
While enjoying the nightlife, don't forget about the sights. Worth a visit is the Old Town, where the Notre-Dame de l'Annonciade Chapel houses a rich collection of paintings by Signac, Matisse and other famous artists. In the neighborhood of the bustling resort there are many typical Provençal villages where you can go to relax in silence and feel the local color (Ramatuelle, Gassan, Grimaud and others).
How to get there? Nice International Airport is 100 kilometers from Saint-Tropez. Alternatively, you can arrive at Nice central train station, take the train to Saint-Raphaël station and then continue your journey by bus.
