Water temperature in Albufeiro
Be aware that the water in Albufeira never warms up to the state of "steamy milk". Even on the hottest days of August, the Atlantic Ocean water temperature does not exceed +23°C. The bathing season starts in mid-May, when the sun starts to shine and the coastal waters warm up to +20°C.
Theoretically, hardened tourists can swim in Albufeira in winter too - in January the Atlantic Ocean temperature is +16-17°C (for comparison, in Crimea the water warms up to this temperature by the end of May). In Albufeira you can feel the tides in the Atlantic Ocean: the maximum water level is 3 to 4 meters.
At low tide, you can collect shells, catch crabs or watch anemones on the beach. The waves of the Atlantic Ocean on the beaches of Albufeira are small, making it safe to visit even with small children.
