Singapore is a small city-state. Unlike larger resort countries with cities or regions, Singapore does not have such divisions. It is conventionally divided into 5 regions. However, you won't find separate cities within each region of Singapore, as the entire state comprises a single city.
The Central Region of Singapore is situated in the central part of the island and consists of 12 districts. Among them, the central region is further divided into 11 subregions. For tourists, the districts of Kallang, Novena, Bishan, and the South Islands are of particular interest.
Singapore's Northern Region is situated in the northern part of the island and is divided into 8 planning districts. Notable areas within this region include the Central Catchment Area, Lim Chu Kang, Mandai, and Simpang.
The northeastern region comprises 7 urban areas, with Punggol and Serangoon being the most popular. This part of the country is home to reservoirs that provide drinking water for the entire population of Singapore. The waters of this region are also inhabited by wild birds, providing opportunities for observation by everyone.
The western region of Singapore is known to be the largest in terms of area and is divided into 12 districts. Clementi, Choa Chu Kang, and Pioneer are among the most popular areas in this region. It also includes several islands that fall within the southern region of Singapore.
The eastern region consists of 6 urban areas, with notable ones being Bedok, Changi, and Changi Bay. This part of Singapore covers a relatively small area of only 110 km².
