The wide, expansive beaches of Cha Am stretch for several kilometers along the Gulf of Thailand, making them a popular destination for tourists. Cha Am offers entertainment and accommodation options to suit all tastes.
Officially, the beach near Cha Am is one continuous stretch, but it can be divided into three distinct parts by infrastructure and location:
-
Central Beach;
-
South Beach;
-
North Beach.
The Cha Am promenade is a favorite destination for both tourists and locals. On weekends and holidays, the beach sees a higher influx of visitors compared to weekdays.
Other popular beaches in the northern part of the city include Thiang Beach and Pak Tien. For excellent swimming spots, you can also explore Hua Hin, located just 25 kilometers from Cha Am.
The Central Beach of the Resort
Central Beach is the busiest beach in Cha Am, boasting a well-developed infrastructure. A road runs along Central Beach, lined with numerous cafes, stores, and travel agents.
You can find rentals for motorcycles, boats, and jet skis right on the beach. Additionally, you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds for 100-200 THB.
-
Sea and Beach: The sand on Central Beach is coarse, with a mix of broken shells, so it's advisable to wear suitable footwear. The sea here is shallow, and during low tide, even 30-40 meters from the shore can be knee-deep.
-
Entertainment: Central Beach offers a range of activities, including banana boating, kiteboarding, and water skiing. One of the highlights for families is horseback riding along the coastline and renting car cams, which children love to ride.
South Beach Cha Am
For those who prefer a quiet and secluded vacation, South Beach is the perfect choice. It stretches south from Cha Am to the Royal Residence of Maruekathaiyawan Palace, and you'll find most of the expensive hotel complexes in this area.
-
The Sea and the Beach: Similar to Central Beach, the water's edge gently slopes, providing easy access to the sea. However, the sea can sometimes be murky due to tides.
-
Entertainment: South Beach offers a few upscale restaurants and massage parlors along the shore. However, most of the infrastructure is hotel-owned. You can also find water rides, horseback riding, and rentals for umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach.
North Beach Resort
This beach starts at the King Nasareun monument and the Neranchararam temple and extends to a jetty that extends into the sea. There are far fewer guesthouses and hotels in this area compared to the central part, making North Beach a quiet and peaceful destination. It's a favorite spot for family vacations among Cha Am residents.
-
The Sea and the Beach: North Beach boasts a wide shoreline, and the water's edge provides a comfortable and gentle entrance to the sea, making it suitable for families with children.
-
Entertainment: Most of the infrastructure, including cafes and restaurants, is owned by hotels. You'll also find sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent on the beach.
