Songteo
The main form of public transportation within Hua Hin. Songteos look like pickup trucks with a roof and small benches behind the driver.
It's important to remember that there are no clear stops on the Songteo. To ask the driver to pick up a passenger, you have to wave. There is a bell inside the cabin for a similar purpose.
In Hua Hin, you can find these types of songteos:
Green. These are considered the best in the city. They are marked with the driving route in English. The route is Khao Takiab via shopping malls, retro village, bus stations, and minivan stops to the airport;
White with red stripes. Route: circular from Thanon Phetkasem to the railway and back;
White. Route: from the railway station past shopping malls and floating markets to the city's southern border;
Red-orange. Secondary route on non-major city streets through the hospital and shopping center.
Operation schedule: from 6:00 to 21:00 every 15 minutes.
Cost: from 15 THB. The price depends on the type of songteo.
Taxi
Autotaxi
Taxis can be booked either online through special apps (such as the Kiwitaxi app) or caught at popular tourist spots (for example, at landmarks or near shopping malls).
Price: For long distances (to neighboring cities), a ride will cost from 2000 THB.
Taxi - Motorbike
Mototaxi is the ideal transportation for short distance trips alone. You can distinguish cab drivers driving a motorcycle by their special crimson vest.
Fare: From 30 THB.
Tuk-tuk
A three-wheeled vehicle that seats one or two passengers and is a miniature version of a Songteo. It works like a cab: its maneuverability allows you to get to almost any attraction and other popular places in Hua Hoon.
The main disadvantage of the tuk-tuk is the cost. It's by far one of the most expensive ways to get around the resort.
Cost: From 100 THB.
Bicycle rickshaws
The bicycle rickshaws are not so much a mode of transportation as a local attraction on wheels. Their main parking lot is located near the central beach.
Bike rickshaws are most often used for short distances. The disadvantage of the transportation is low speed and maneuverability, as well as being expensive.
Cost: From 150 THB.
