The southern town of Kemer is washed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. During the peak of summer, you won't find any free space on the beaches.
Not long ago, the resort was a small and inconspicuous village. Everything changed in the 1960s when a road was built through Kemer to Antalya. That's when tourism started to flourish here. Modern Kemer merged with Antalya to form one vast coastline with a population of 25,000 people.
The main characteristics of the sea in Kemer
The seabed is covered with pebbles and stones of various sizes. Because of this, the water is clean and transparent, allowing you to observe the fish and other marine creatures.
The beaches adjacent to the hotels have pebble and stone formations of uniform size. That's why they are called pebble beaches. Despite this, the entry into the water is gradual. However, it is still recommended to purchase special footwear from local shops and hotels.
There are breakwaters in the sea that break the large waves. This allows the youngest beachgoers and non-swimmers to safely swim in shallow waters.
Coasts of the Mediterranean Sea
Beaches in Kemer are always well maintained and clean. Each of them is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable water and beach holiday.
On the coast there are small eateries with food and drinks. Beach hotels have bars, restaurants and soft playgrounds with slides and swings.
The shorelines of the most expensive resorts are covered with fine golden sand - an artificial covering. There are heated pools for children, and the water has special lighting for night swimming, although it is not recommended due to unpredictable currents.
