Fujairah's climate is special. Even if you've been to other emirates in the country, it doesn't fully give you an idea of what the climate in Fujairah is like. It is not so dry here, there is more greenery and it rains more often - this is due to the mountains and moist winds blowing from the Indian Ocean, so even when the air temperature in Fujairah rises to a prohibitive +50 ° C, the heat is tolerated much easier than you might think. In summer, dust storms sometimes blow through and there are fogs.
The climate here is subtropical, and the hottest months are from May to October. At this time, the weather forecast in Fujairah predicts sunny skies with rare rains and temperatures from +35°C to +45°C.
On the whole, visitors and residents of this emirate are lucky with the climate. It is comfortable throughout the year, with strong winds rarely blowing and hardly any storms.
It rains more often than other emirates in the UAE. However, from April to October there is much less than in November and March. When does the rainy season start in Fujairah? It usually falls in winter and lasts a short eight to ten days.
Fujairah's vegetation and animal life
The emirate boasts a rich flora and fauna. Fujairah's vegetation is diverse and richer than most emirates in the UAE. Farmers here grow many types of fruits and vegetables. In the oases and park areas mainly grow date palms and acacias, in the desert - grasses and shrubs.
Fujairah's wildlife is at ease in the three main protected areas. You can admire Fujairah's flora and fauna at Al Madhab Gardens, near Gamour Springs and amongst the Wuraya Waterfalls. The fauna is diverse and includes some rare species of animals, (such as the South Arabian leopard and the Arabian oryx).
Significant protected areas in Fujairah are three: Ain Al-Gamour Springs, Ain Al-Madhab Gardens and Al-Wurraya Waterfalls.
Ain Al-Gamour are sulphur springs of volcanic origin, and they are always hot - around 60°C. The water is full of sulphur compounds and other minerals; there is a beautiful park around the springs and people from all over Asia and Europe come here for treatment - the sulphur waters have anti-rheumatic, anti-parasitic and anti-microbial properties and are excellent for cleansing the skin, including skin diseases.
The Ain Al Madhab Gardens also have therapeutic mineral springs, arranged as two separate pools - men and women are not allowed to bathe together. There are also hotels where you can stay if you want a full water treatment.
The Al Wurraya Waterfalls are considered the wonder of the UAE, with streams of water flowing over the rocks in a calm, gliding motion, without noise or rumbling.
