Where is Fujairah located?
This city is the capital of the Emirate of Al Fujairah, which is located in the east of the country, in a very picturesque location on the shores of the Indian Ocean. It is not typical of the UAE but has a very harmonious mix of sea, desert and mountain scenery.
Population of Fujairah - about 70 thousand people (as a whole in the emirate of el-Fujairah - about 140 thousand). The national currency is Arab dirhams (AED).
A little history.
The Emirate of Al-Fujairah was founded about eighty years ago. Previously, the areas were part of the Emirate of Sharjah. However, this does not make the history of Fujairah any less fascinating and rich because people have been living in these areas for several thousand years.
Unlike other emirates, Al Fujairah does not boast of oil fields, but this does not prevent it from prospering. The sources of Fujairah's prosperity are mining, agriculture, fishing, a major international port and more recently tourism.
