Districts of Kharkiv: Where's the Best Place for a Tourist to Stay?
Kyivsky district is the heart of Kharkov, so affordable accommodation is hard to find here. However, if you want to stay in the very center of the bustling city, within walking distance of iconic landmarks and ancient architectural ensembles, there's no better option. Kharkiv's main street, Sumskaya, runs through the Kyivsky district.
Shevchenkovsky district of Kharkiv is known as the "green lungs" of the city, as it lacks heavy industry enterprises. This area boasts popular natural spots, botanical gardens, and one of Kharkov's most mystical places, Sarzhin Yar. It's a great neighborhood for families with children, as there's an amusement park and a tree "trail" within a 10-minute walk.
If you're not particularly keen on staying in the city center, consider the Leninsky district, located near Kharkiv's railway station. This neighborhood offers easy access to the city center and the Chalk Mountains, which are located outside Kharkov.
It's worth noting that renting in the Leninsky district of Kharkiv tends to be more expensive compared to other districts. The same applies to the Kievsky district. Kharkiv is a bustling city that never sleeps, operating 24 hours a day. Therefore, if you're traveling with children or a loved one and prefer to avoid crowds, noise, and commotion, consider staying on one of the streets in Nova Bavaria. This area is known for being one of the most environmentally clean districts in the former capital of Ukraine.
Business travelers who find themselves waiting for their flights and need accommodation in Kharkiv often choose to stay in the Kominternovsky district, which is conveniently located near the airport. However, if you're a light sleeper, this might not be the best option.
Note: If you're visiting Kharkiv for entertainment or planning to explore the city's popular historical and cultural attractions, we recommend against renting in the Frunzensky, Moskovsky, and Oktyabrsky districts.
