The Stowe ski resort offers 116 slopes of varying difficulty and 13 elevators. The skiing areas are located on the slopes of two mountains: Mansfield (the highest peak in Vermont) and Spruce Peak, which are connected by a gondola. For experienced athletes, there are four trails: Goat, Starr, Liftline and National, and you can book a backcountry tour (hiking up and then down unprepared slopes) with a local company. For those who are not yet ready to conquer the steepest mountains, most of Stowe's trails are designed for them. The best of them are Perry Merrill and Gondolier, which start at the gondola elevator, and Main Street at Spruce Peak. Learning slopes are found around the Toll House elevator at Mansfield Mountain. Those deciding to ski or board for the first time are advised to start from the lower station at Spruce Peak.
Such activities as horseback riding (on horseback or in sleighs), dog sledding, snowmobiling, and ice skating are popular among Stowe's guests. There are four indoor tennis courts, swimming pools, bowling club. In the evenings young people gather in Matterhorn bar and Rusty Nail club, where you can have a drink, play billiards and dance to popular world hits.
