Catalan is not considered one of the most common languages in Europe, but it is the official language of Andorra. If you want, you can negotiate in French or Spanish, both countries are close by.
Nevertheless, we have made for you a small Catalan phrasebook with pronunciation. It will make traveling around the country much easier. Always carry an English-Catalan phrasebook with you when you go to a particular village, especially away from the main tourist routes. Andorra is small, but there are plenty of places to go too. So it's best to always have a small Catalan phrasebook on hand.

In addition, some phrases have specific usage. For example, Estic mirant ("I am looking") is used to politely ask an intrusive seller to leave you alone. The phrase "estic mirant, gràcies" ("I am looking, thank you") is equivalent to saying "I haven't chosen anything yet."
When refusing something offered, it's customary to say "no, gràcies," and when accepting something offered, say "sí, si us plau." The word Perdó ("sorry") is used as a request for forgiveness, to repeat something said, or to attract attention.
