Transportation in Andorra

Public transportation in Andorra: its peculiarities and ticket prices.

There is public transportation in Andorra, and it mainly connects all ski resorts of the country. We are talking about shuttle buses. They move from Andorra la Vella in three directions. The longest route connects Andorra la Vella, Escaldes, Encamp, Canillo, Soldeu, el Tarter and Paz de la Casa. In fact, the entire Grandvalira resort area is covered by this route. This includes two ski areas, Grau Roch to Paz de la Casa and Soldeu to El Tarter.

The bus runs frequently, about once every half hour, sometimes a little less frequently. The journey from the starting point to the end point takes about an hour. Keep in mind that on the mountain roads of Andorra you can often get into traffic jams, especially near the approaches to ski resorts, so at an unfortunate time of the trip this way can stretch for two or three hours.

Another route runs from the capital towards the Vallnord resort, uniting the ski areas of Pal-Arinsal and Ordino-Arcalis, branching off at La Massagne. These buses take you along the Andorra la Vella - Escaldes - La Massana - Arinsal road. The second route Andorra la Vella - Escaldes - La Massana - Ordino.

It takes 20-30 minutes to get from the capital to Arinsal station. The road to Ordino will take a little longer. Buses on this route run two or three times an hour.

Finally, from the capital you can leave by bus towards the Spanish border and get to the town of St. Julia de Llortes, next to which is the resort of La Rabassa.

The fare for regular buses inside Andorra is about 4 EUR and depends on the distance traveled. It is forbidden to enter the buses with ski and snowboard boots. If you are carrying ski equipment, you should ask the driver to open the luggage compartment.

Standing is not allowed on buses. A fully occupied bus may not stop at a bus stop. However, during rush hours, especially around 19:00, this is forgotten and the bus is full.

Cabs operate both within an individual town or between towns and to ski stations. It is better to call a cab by phone, but the waiting time usually exceeds 1 hour.

Cab fare is calculated depending on the route. Thus, moving in the central part of the country - around 5 EUR, from the center to the elevators - already around 15-25 EUR. At night the fare is often doubled. Tipping is not obligatory, but welcome.

But there are no railroads in tiny Andorra. And you will have to get to the airports in neighboring countries by buses.
