The town is named after the patron of trade, the god Veles. Tourists from different countries are attracted to Sveti Vlas by its healing climate, favorable location, and excellent beaches - sandy with convenient access to the water. There are three beaches within the town, and all of them are free.
The two main streets of the resort are Tsar Simeon, where shops and vegetable stalls are concentrated, and Mak, which is home to numerous restaurants with a sea view. One of the most notable cultural buildings in Sveti Vlas is the Church of Athanasius the Great, built in 1865 during the Turkish rule. Interestingly, the church originally did not have bell towers (as the Turks prohibited their construction due to their aversion to bell ringing), but they were added in 1999 with the funds of the parishioners. Another interesting church is located within the Marina Dinevi complex - the Church of St. Vlas, built in 2007. From the 3rd to the 17th century, there was a monastery of the same name on this site, which was destroyed by the Turkish troops.
Many festivals, concerts, and other festive events take place in the Summer Theater "Arena." The modern yacht port "Marina Dinevi" hosts two regattas and several motor parades per year, as well as beauty contests, fashion shows, and presentations.
