Cayman Islands Customs adheres to the traditional rules of the Caribbean with some unique considerations.
1. What you can bring into the country by air:
- Any amount of national and foreign currency
- For individuals aged 18 and above: up to 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 0.5 pounds (250 grams) of tobacco
- Factory-packaged meat products valued at no more than $35 USD
- Personal items
2. What is prohibited to bring into the Cayman Islands:
- Living plants and cuttings
- Beef
- Raw fruits and vegetables
- Perishable foods
- Drugs and drug-containing medications
- Counterfeit coins
- Gambling instruments and apparatus
- Weapons, ammunition, and explosives (gunpowder) can only be imported with permission from a special police commissioner
- Pets without authorization from the Department of Agriculture of the islands
3. What is prohibited to take out of the Cayman Islands:
- Lobsters
- Shellfish and shellfish meat (exceptions for transit passengers)
- Protected marine and terrestrial wildlife (including tropical birds)
- Ordinary items (including those found on the seabed) and antiques (special authorization is required to confirm the legality of their acquisition and export from the country)
4. How much alcohol can be brought into the Cayman Islands:
- Up to one quart (0.95 liters) of alcoholic beverages (including wine)
- Up to three liters of any beverage
5. How much alcohol can be taken out of the country:
- Up to three liters of any beverage
