There are very few ski resorts in Cyprus. To be precise, all the ski centers and resorts are concentrated near the highest mountain in Cyprus. This is Mount Olympus, not to be confused with the mountain of the same name in Greece. Ski Cyprus has a good tourist infrastructure.
The Troodos Nature Reserve is located at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters. From here it's just an hour's drive to the island's capital, Nicosia. Ski tours to Cyprus are best combined with other types of vacation. Still, ski vacation in Cyprus is considered secondary. And yet, it is great here. The season on the island starts in mid-December and lasts until the end of March.
Troodos is located close to the seaside resorts, so in March tourists can combine active skiing with a vacation on the coast. And in winter, you can easily skip the mountains and head to the seaside for fresh air, scenery and even sunbathing in the cool winter climate of the southern island.
The largest mountain center is in Platres. The upper part of the village, Upper Platres, resembles the resorts of the Alps with its cozy inns, cafes and bakeries. It is the best starting point for ski trips to Mount Olympus. It is suitable for beginners and professionals alike, and there are suitable routes and pistes for all.
