The islet of La Matica is famous for its mangrove tree, which grows practically in its center. It is also a permanent habitat for herons. Getting here is quite easy. All you have to do is walk through a shallow lagoon with a sandy bottom.
Opposite the main beach of Boca Chica is another island, Los Pinos. Its name translates as "island of pines". You'll need sturdy boots and mosquito repellent to walk around it.
Not far from the old abandoned sugar cane factory is another beach, Playa Andres. This place has a well-developed infrastructure, equipped with sunbeds and beach umbrellas, and surrounded by palm trees. Despite its impressive length, it is not infrequently crowded.
