Podgorica International Airport is the main air gateway of Montenegro. It is also known as Golubovci after the name of the nearest town to the air terminal. The air terminal serves more than 1 million passengers annually. It is located 11 km from the capital of Montenegro, the city of Podgorica.
The air terminal is equipped with one runway with asphalt surface. It acts as a hub for the national airline Montenegro Airlines, and also serves flights of Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Braathens Airways and other carriers.
There are two terminals for passengers at the air station:
- Terminal 1. An old single-story building with 1 gate. It is used mainly for charter flights.
- Terminal 2. It is used for scheduled domestic and international flights. It is a new modern building made of aluminum and glass, which was opened in 2006. The method of indirect lighting was applied during its construction.
Both terminals are located within walking distance of each other.
